Gerut/Conversion

The desire to convert to Judaism is a highly personal decision that often reflects a profound spiritual quest and a long-held desire by an individual to adopt a new identity. Whether a candidate comes from an entirely different background or merely requires his status to be regularised, any orthodox Beth Din has to satisfy itself that his desire to live a Jewish life in observance of the mitzvoth is earnest and solely motivated by the desire to serve G-d. In addition to ascertain the strength of a candidate’s belief, a convert also has to demonstrate fluency in the practical aspects of daily Jewish life.

Rabbi Yehuda Benguigui is highly experienced in the subject of conversion and has prepared many individuals from all sorts of backgrounds over the past 40 years. In particular, he can assist individuals in the following areas:

  • Establishing contact with members of Israel’s Beth Din in order to submit an application for conversion;
  • Preparation of a course outline and provision of reading materials for individuals accepted as candidates;
  • Introduction to Jewish History;
  • Tuition in reading and writing of the Hebrew language;
  • Tuition in all areas of Halacha required, in particular with respect to the laws of Brachot, Shabbat, Kashrut, Tefilah, Haggim, Mourning, Marriage, Family Purity etc;
  • Preparation for interviews with the Dayanim and intermediation with the Beth Din;
  • Arrangement of the Brit Milah and immersion in the Mikveh.

Please contact Rabbi Benguigui in full confidence for an initial consultation should you be interested to follow a life in accordance with Jewish Law and wish to convert. All or parts of the above can be provided depending on your needs and preparation.
